What's Sad is They Think They are So Cute

Students in Reading Workshop are taking the Practice Sixth Grade Reading Ohio Achievement Assessment.  We attempt to make this as realistic as possible just to give students a chance to go through the process, see how they do, and give us some data for final preparations for the actual test.  This practice run through has proven beneficial to teachers and students.

Most of the twenty students that I monitored worked hard and the results will show them and me their ability and potential to pass the actual test.  I took a look across the hall though, and saw a different story.  Two boys spent the last hour of the test goofing around.  They were obviously bored, so they spent the time trying to distract peers.

I am not sure why they thought they didn't need to work.  I am not sure why the teacher didn't notice their repeated attempts to distract peers.  The bottom line was they thought they were so cute and so funny.  And that's sad because they were just unmotivated and unsuccessful.  Is there any chance they will grow up in three weeks?  I guess we can always hope.

What about you hard workers?  Why did you choose to press the success key?

I chose to push the success key because I felt really good that I could do this test and have a really good score.

Mr.McGuire I know it bugs you when people don't try there hardest. With those two boys I would have tolled the teacher but I also wouldn't have. I would because they are distracting peers. I wouldn't have because it's going to reflect back on them because they were to busy bothering others that they won't get a good grade. If it were the real OAA they might get a low enough grade to holed them back. I didn't really try my hardest and I regret it. On the OAA I'll push up to my ability.

I chose to press the success key because, When I woke up that morning I was feeling good about this test. When I walked in the classroom and sat down I was ready for this test and I wanted to do the best I can and I did it. When we got the test back I was more than ready to see what I got.

I chose to press the success key because, I wanted to do good on it and I didn't want to look stupid and have a bad score. Another reason why I chose the success key is because I didn't want to have a bad grade and so I can try to pass the real Sixth Grade Reading Ohio Achievement Assessment and the Sixth Grade Math Ohio Achievement Assessment.

The reason that I decided to press the success key is because if you don't do it right the first year you just have to do it over again. I mean whats the point. I saw someone goofing off in our class during the test then today when they got their paper back they had a sad face on. I don't get why they do that during the test and then expect people to fell bad for them when they get a bad grade. So I think if your one of those people that get bad grades and don't do anything in class you need to change. You need to ask teachers for help and maybe even your friends so then you don't have a sad face on when you see your grade. So I am glad that I did not have a sad face on today when I saw my grade. I was really proud and I think I will be one of those people that press that success key on the day of the achievement test. So press the success key too we can make our teachers proud. Another reason I chose to press the success key is because I don't want to be the one that has to have a do over.

I pressed the success key because I want to be successful in life. To be successful in life I have to be successful in school witch means doing well in school and not goofing off. I do not want to be like the students that were goofing off I want to have good grades and have success in school.

On the practice achievement test i worked as hard as i could i did not play around like other people and i used a lot of strategies and did not get that high of a score but I tried my best that just means that i better start practicing.

I pressed the success key because i was successful and I tried my best and said to my self the whole way through go back in the story or i will get a bad grade so i went back on every question if it was hard question i went back a lot of times.

The reason I decided to press the success key is I want to graduate from school and not be in school all my life. I also want to go to college and then get a good job. I really don't know why those two boys decided not to press the success key because they might not of passed the practice test and that will definitely bring their grade down. But maybe they don't care about their grades, I know I do. And maybe they don't want to be successful in life but who wouldn't want to be successful.

I pressed the success key because I have a goals in my life that I would like to accomplish. If I don't do my best while I'm at this age I'll never reach my goals. If I don't do good now, what will I be when I go into high school? What will my job application look like when I am trying to get a job? I know I won't go anywhere in my life if I don't do my best now. I tried hard on the practice OAA, but I know I didn't try my hardest. I know I will have to shape up for the real test to get better grades. I would like to impress the teachers and principals so I can get an scholarship to go to a really nice college, and then get a nice job. I don't want to waste my life away. I want a reason I'm supposed to be here, to achieve my goals for school, and for myself. I want to make my teacher proud of having me as a student.

I chose to press the success key because I figured that the practice test was also has an effect on my grade and me. I like taking these test because they give me an idea on how good I will do on the OAA. I felt that I only have one chance to pass this test why mess it up, that's why I do the best I can.

I chose to press the success key because if you want to get into good colleges, sometimes high schools look back on OAA to determine if you are smart enough to go to school there. That is what motivates me to give 110% and try the best I can on tests. What ever you get on these tests will follow you for the rest of your life. It can determine if you go to a good college, if you get a good job, if you will make enough money to pay bills and such.

I do good on these test by strategies that my teacher, Mr.McGuire, taught me such as going back in the passage and finding answers. If you don't look back in the passage and check over your work after you are done, you don't get a good grade... simple as that.

Those two boys don't care and aren't thinking ahead of what this test will mean. If they think they can get done in an hour and not check their work, they are just doing themselves harm and will not be the best that they could be. If they goof off on this one test, it makes it easier to goof off on the next test, and the next one and the one after that, until it becomes something important. Then these boys will find themselves unable to pass high school. If they fail that, they stay in high school while every one else goes ahead in life. Usually, these are the kids that drop out of high school and say that they are being home-schooled, when really, they have gotten so far behind in their school work, and they can't catch up. These people are usually the ones that have to do things that they really don't want to do in order to get by in life, like stealing or drugs.

The reason I choose to press the success key is because I want to be successful in life. I don't want to be just making it in life or work at McDonald's for the rest of my life. I want to be someone and do things. Buy things that I want.
