The Pit of Poetry

As we begin to study poetry, take a minute and compare.  Does either poem describe you as a poet?

I think that falling into poetry describe me as a poet, because I always think my poems are not good enough.
I guess I am shy when it comes to poetry.I always get scared thinking every poem has to rhyme.

I like poetry. But I do not like expressing my emotions on the internet. I can express myself in person. But not where everybody will see it. I like reading more than poetry. Besides I would not be that good of a poet. The pit of poetry describes me a little. But not to much. Really the only things that connect to me are Hunting, Fishing, Sports, Games, Horse riding and lots of other things. Those are some things that connect to me. Poems do not connect to me.

I don't really like poetry because some poems scare me a lot. I don't really think I am good for poetry cause I am not good at it. I think poets should not put scary things in the poems.

I would write poetry if I was not scared of doing it. I am scared of doing it because I think I'll mess-up the whole poem and will not make any sense at all. I think if some would help me out a little I think I could write poetry a lot. I am also shy when I have to write a poem because I am afraid someone will make fun of me.

I think Falling into Poetry describes me as a poet because, when I write poems I can never know what my poem should be about. When I write a poem I always think it has to rhyme or it won't be good enough. I don't think I have the creativity, passion, or curiosity to write a poem.

I don't think I would want to share my deepest thoughts with everyone. The reason I wouldn't want to share my deepest thoughts is because, I wouldn't want to read it out loud because I get very nervous when I have to read stuff out loud.Just like once before in science we had to do a presentation in front of everyone and I was so nervous I was shaking. I've always had stage fright, but if I didn't reading a poem out loud wouldn't bother me , the writing is the only problem I would have.

I like poetry and I don't like poetry. What I like about poetry is how they put the words. They are always different. That is what I like about poetry.

And what I do not like about poetry is that I think I always have to rhyme. And another thing I do not like about poetry is that sometimes it gets really boring. And it is hard to find the right rhyming words. That is what I do not like about poetry.

I do not like poetry very much so these poems relate to me in some way. I do not like going up in front of the class to read anything.
Whenever I read poetry I get annoyed if it doesn't rhyme. Sometimes It is hard to rhyme but I still prefer It to.

I think that falling in poetry describes me well because poetry is just not my thing. I just don't like poems because I don't like rhyming and I get shy. When I was little I used to think all poems had to rhyme and sometimes I still think that. I never had been good at poetry in my life. Whenever I have done poetry I have been scared. I just have something against poetry. I am fine with reading it but I just can't do it myself.

I think I fall into poetry because I really only like poetry that rhymes so when ever I read a poem I try to make it rhyme some how.

I dont think that I will write very good poetry this year and if I do, I will use what ever kind of poetry that I can use to get an A on the poetry assignment.

Ohh, Poetry. Not my favorite subject. The reason I dislike poetry, is the fact that I can't read what the heck the're saying half the time!

Poetry may be something fun to do for people who want to express their feelings into something people can't hardly understand. Not that I don't want to express my feelings. It's just I don't want to write a whole story about it!

I can express my feelings in one word. Funny. That's it. That's all you have to do. Just say your emotion. Not write a whole paragraph!

So, I guess I can express my feelings about poetry in one word. Stupid. Just for people who have to write all their feelings into a poem. I just have one last thing to say. It's country music all over again!

I think that The Pit of Poetry describes me because, I am not really a big fan of writing poetry but when I get started writing I get more and more dragged into it. When I start writing it I feels like it is so boring... But then as I keep getting more and more ideas, it seems to get kind of like a game because you can't pick all of your thoughts that you have, which is really hard. I hope I do good writing poetry, I am going to do the best I can do and hopefully it will turn out okay.

I think that poetry describes me when it talks about things that are not sad and boring. That is not me but if I write the poem it is not okay because that just changes who I am.If the poem has a rhyme than that is fine as long as the poem is not sad and boring.

When I write poems I take my time to think about it and make sure it describes the way I like poetry.

I think that falling into poetry describes me well because I'm not good at poetry. I don't like poems because I get shy thinking that someone might not like my work or what I wrote. Last year I thought all poems had to rhyme, and everything I wrote came out sounding terrible because I thought it had to rhyme. Poetry just Is not my specialty I'm a different kind of artist I express my feeling, emotions, and thought through drawing not writing.

Sarah said...

Both of these poems describes me because I think I'm not good. I don't think I'm good because I can never think of something good to write or it has a lot of rhymes in it.

I don't want to share my deepest thoughts because I don't like to share my thoughts to everyone.

Why I think I fall into poetry?
Why I think I fall into poetry is because you can express your feeling's and you can explain who you are.
I think of myself as a poet because I love to express myself! I also like it because it shows my feeling.
Then I like to do and read poetry because it just makes me fall into it and it just makes me want to read more sometimes. Sometimes I just think in my head what I think of the the passage. Also what it is about.
Poetry to me is OK. But I like the fact that you can express your own emotions not just in one word but in a paragraph.

I would have to be falling into poetry. I think this because I hate writing poems but I'm really good at writing songs or raps.

I'm hate writing poems! I've tried to write a good one but I hated it. I think I suck at writing them.

I know poetry isn't my talent. I already know that writing wise my talent is writing raps\ songs.

So yeah I'll give poetry one more shot.
I just don't like writing about what I feel like. I don't write good poems that's all.

I like poetry. But I do not like when people read it and ask wow I did not know your life was that hard. I express my feelings in my poems in fact I have a hole book filled with at least 20 poems. I get really upset when I cant get my poems to rhyme. When I read and write my poems I feel sad and it makes me want to scream inside.

I feel alone because I am in foster care and I lost the only one that cared for me my dad. So when I feel like I am going to burst with anger. I writ in my poem book.

I wrote a poem about foster care to.

The Pit of Poetry suits me better because I think poetry is for girls . Half the sentences in poetry I don`t even understand . Like today on study island I had a question like what happen to the farmers corn when it only said one thing about corn . So of course it takes me forever to answer the question because I had to read it all of again like ten times .

I also don`t like poetry because some of it is way to sappy . But Yesterday I liked the one at the veteran`s day . The war ones for the people coming home from Afghanistan or places out in the east .

One reason why I don't like poetry is because it always is a poem that you can't even tell what the heck they're even trying to tell you. And sometimes the rhyming gets really annoying. It's like do they really have rhyme all the time?

I know poetry isn't my talent, but I think it's ok.

Falling Into Poetry describes me about poetry because I like read poems but I don't like to make poems. I don't like to make poems because I am worried about what people would think. I am worried that people would think that my poems are stupid or dumb. I have tried to make good poems but the poems turned out awful. I hope Mr.McGuire doesn't make our class make poems.

This poem describes me because I don't like to tell people how I feel. It just is not right to me. I don't like to tell people about me. I don't know what to write when I do do a poem. That's how the poem describes me.

I think the poem Falling Into Poetry describes me because I never know what i'm going to write when ever I write poetry. I also say that because I don't know if I am brave enough to read them. I also don't know if I would ever share it.

taneshia said...

I think the first one describes me as a poet because I love poetry and I don't like to read my thoughts out loud.

I would say that Falling into Poetry would be the one that most describes me the best because when I get up to read sometimes I fill like plunge into a icy pool nothing to but just jump in.

I think that I need some work on poetry, but the piece I just read was cool, and it makes me want to learn how to write better poetry by my self. I've never written real poetry before so it will be a challenge for because the only poem I've written was a " Roses are red " poem.

Brianna said...

I think the first poem describes me best, because I don't like to share my thoughts or my writing's out loud, and I think people are going to think that its stupid or dumb or think that I'm dumb. I'm not good at making poems but I try my best to make a poem if I have to.

Cierra said...

Yes one the poems do describe me. The one that describes me is titled Falling into Poetry. That one describes me because I don't like to show how I feel or share what I'm thinking.

I am a person you DO NOT like poetry at all. The reason is that I am a person who likes story a lot more because poetry is so short and story are long. Because they are mostily for ladies not for guys.

Because they just sound weird how they think they have to sound scary and because they are not scary. At least not to be.

I'm the kind of person who doesn't hate poetry. But I don't love it either. If I would half to read it for a grade or question. But not on my regular time.

I do not think there is a poetry writer in me. Because i'm not the kind of person who can go to the front of the room and blurt out my feelings. Its just not me.

I think poetry describes me best because I do not like poetry that much because it is gust not my thing. I always think that it has to rhyme and that is what messes me up I do not know why it always messes me up.

I just don't like poetry, I hate poetry. I hate poetry because I've read poetry for so many years that I'm completely sick of it. Sometimes I can read poetry to my little sister.(Funny ones.)I might be a L.A. teacher when I grow up. Wonder what trouble I'll have then.:(

What I think about poetry and our selves as poets, well I think I'm a really good poet. I love poems that rhyme. (like Dr.Seuss even though they are more like stories) Any way I'm pretty good at poetry because I have so much on my mind all the time. I can never be satisfied with just one dumb little story that doesn't take much thought to put into. With poetry you have to think and put effort into. You can't just think write it and be done every thing counts as a thought, action, and belief. Like Shakespeare, he just didn't lick a piece of paper and say that it's done. He thought and maybe even put years into that poem or story. So I think that if in class we're doing poetry, we need to put thought into it.

I've never really liked poetry at all. Sometimes some poetry can relate to me. I also don't like reading poetry. When I read I have to be entertained.
When ever I try to write poetry I always mess up in some ways, such as... not rhyming and it usually doesn't make since at all. That's why I don't like poetry.

I honestly like poetry. I don't look at myself as a poet. So I think that I'm like the one whos falling into poetry. The reason being is because its pretty hard , its really challenging. It just doesn't always come to you. But they always say "you can do anything you put your mind to."

Also because its like a new discovery for me because Iv'e never considered poetry. Its like something that is now just getting known because its always been hid. I think I will like it. Mostly because I like words that rhyme. There just so catchy.

I think I'm falling into poetry because I am very curious. I'm curious Chloe. I also can be creative. But not always like I said before " it doesn't always come to me." I just can't command it to come to me. Thats what I like about it that it just comes to you, that sometimes you don't have to think about it but sometimes you do. Its like a mystery that you have to solve. Thats what I think about me falling into poetry.

I think the Falling Into Poetry describes me because I never know what to write the poem about. I think it doesn't rhyme enough or it's not a good topic.

I don't like poetry at all. I say this because every time I read poetry or I can't stand it but if it does rhyme I might read it but I still would prefer not to. It just doesn't interest me at all.

I think that Falling into poetry describes me as a poet because I tried poetry in the 3rd. or 4th. grade but I hated it. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I suppose I could give it a try because Mr. Mcguire will probably fix it up somehow to make it more fun.

sarahh5555.edublogs.org said...

I like that Falling Into Poetry explains most of me. I love reading others poetry but I don't really think that good at writing it. I love to write it but it just doesn't come out the way I want it to. But I think if I tried harder it would sound better.

Some can write poems and it sounds really good. But sometimes I think that I need to take more time and it will sound good. Also a lot people write poetry to express their feelings like the book that I have read called Runaway by: Wendelin Van Draanen. This book was about a girl named Holly who runs away from her foster parents. On the way she writes a lot of very good poems.

I may have a hidden talent for poetry I just don't know yet..

I do not like poetry at all and I don't think I ever will. I will give it a try but I probably won't like it. Some people use poetry to express their feelings. I don't like expressing my feelings and I don't wan't to give it a try. I will never love poetry ever!

I think that the Poem The Pit of Poetry is more like me because when it comes to trying things new I am not afraid to try it. I love trying new thing but sometimes I get a little nervous but it is a good nervous. That is me

I think falling into poetry describes me best because when I write poems I never know what to right about because I always think that the poem have to rhyme when they don't. Also I have never been that good at poetry.

I think Fallig into Poetry describes me because I dont like to share my thoughts. I am not even good at poetry, but I always try my best and work hard to do the best that I can do at writing poetry.

I think The Pit of Poetry describes me.Like I'm the victim I'm being lured into the trap of poetry. That my talent is covered by fear,my talent hiding in the depths of poetry.Like I'm falling out of sight, fear gripping my thought so I cant breathe.
