D.A.R.E

DARE class began today. Students are instructed by Deputy Dale Thomas, the Pickaway County Sheriff Department's 2007 Deputy of the Year. Deputy Thomas has taught students about resisting drugs and peer pressure for the last 11 years.

According to the DARE website:

This year millions of school children around the world will benefit from D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 in Los Angeles and has proven so successful that it is now being implemented in 75 percent of our nation's school districts and in more than 43 countries around the world. D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.

DARE is a great opportunity for all students. This class is also everyone's favorite. Deputy Thomas does a super job helping students learn valuable life skills, in a fun and interactive way.

Hi Mr. McGuire. I'm really looking forward to D.A.R.E. this year. Aspen & Shad both thought it was a neat program and they learned a lot. I enjoyed Deputy Thomas's attitude and the way he always talks about things from the way a kid would look at it.
See you tomorrow.

I think that it was very fun yesterday in class, when Deputy Thomas was here. I hope that after I tell my grandma everything about smoking, she might consider at least trying to quit.

I hope D.A.R.E is a really good program to join. Everybody that is former D.A.R.E members said''D.A.R.E is a really fun program''. I'm hoping that D.A.R.E lives up to what some people say about D.A.R.E.

I think DARE is going to be really fun. But my friend Randi said that she didn't like it that much because she had DARE last year. I disagree about it not being fun. I think she didn't like it because she didn't have Deputy Thomas!

DARE is so cool. When I like it the most was when Deputy Thomas show us how much tar was in 1 cigerate and how much is in 20 cigerates and how much in a averge smocker for a year. It was cool how much tar you can accumuolate on your lugs.
