Brain Teaser

A student from Chicago was a very good runner, so he went to France to enter a race. A French web site reported that the student won the race, averaging a speed of 25,750 kilometers per hour. Back home, his classmates were impressed but confused. When they plugged 25,750 into a kilometer/mile converter, it seemed that their friend raced at the brisk speed of 16,000 mph. How is this possible?

I don't get it but I'll guess that he was tied to a jet.

what does that mean??

I think that the guy either watched the race in super fast motion or the guy who wrote the speed down messed up and put 25,750 kilometers per hour when it should be 25.750 kilometers per hour! Hope I'm right!!!=)

The students is his classroom done it wrong. They plugged the numbers into a kilometer converter and that is where they messed up I think. Right?

Dang this brain teaser is taunting my brain make it stop.

In France and other European countries a comma is used where Americans use decimal points. The students should have put 25.750 into the converter. Then they would have discovered that their friend actually raced at 16 mph.

This has to be right!!!!

Hey everybody, I did not cheat from Kari.

He's a super hero.
He flew.
He drove in a car.
He had super shoes.
He went back in time and went really fast.

Mr.McGuire,
Here is another brain teaser.
What does the word ORIGINAL mean?
It was in the book I am reading called Star Girl by Kathryn Lasky, and I just thought that I could put it on here and see what everybody else thought about it. So to all you bloggers out there what do you think the word ORIGINAL means?

I think it's possible because I think that he has a super power to run really fast. Like the boy in the incredibles. I forgot his name but it's a movie and he runs so fast you can't even see him on camera. So I think that's how he ran so fast he's got a superpower!

I've got to be right, am I?

Trevor,

You are correct. However, I am trying to decide whether to give you extra credit for finding the website where I got the brain teaser, or giving you a write-up for dipping into my computer screen while I was searching.

HHHHHHMMMMMM!

But Mr. McGuire I put down that it should have been 25.750 instead of 25,750 c'mon I said that before Trevor so shouldn't I get the bonus points come on this isn't fair! =(

I think Kari is the one that got it because Trevor came and said it after her. So great job Kari! Sorry Trevor.

Mr McGuire,

I did not look at your computer screen when you found the brain teaser. I did not know that post was there until I got on my computer which was around 9:00 pm. I wanted to get extra credit for this so I highlighted some of the text and googled it. There was only one link and it was Brain Teaser 2, so I clicked it. It showed the question then I saw the like to the solution, I clicked it, it said the following text I put down.

This is what I did.

OK Trevor, but you did not site your source, even though you copied word for word.

I am glad you have the knowledge of how to find the answer to a question like this. I guess I will just have to try harder to find more challenging questions.

Oh, by the way, Kari beat you to the answer, but I appreciate the effort by both of you. You both get 76,000 kilometers of extra credit.

Does that I get 75 kilometersof extra credit???=)
